Summer is one of the four seasons of the year. It usually signals the start of the vacations, and therefore a time for leisure after a long and tiring period of work. Families seize the opportunity to spend some quality time together.
The period covered by summer is not the same all over the world. In the northern hemisphere (where France is located), it generally begins between June 21 and 22, and covers the months of June, July and August. In the southern hemisphere, on the other hand, it begins between December 21 and 22, and covers the months of December, January and February. In this part of the world, the summer season coincides with Christmas and the New Year.
Summer is characterized by heat waves and rising temperatures. Sunshine during this season is a notch above the other three. So beware of UV rays. However, it’s the vacations. It’s all about having a good time at the beach, relaxing, catching up with friends and so on. In fact, it’s in summer that the biggest festive events take place (concerts, international sports tournaments, etc.).
